Jon Jones has suffered an injury two weeks out from UFC 295, ruling him out of his heavyweight title defence against Stipe Miocic PBA
Light-heavyweight great Jones won the heavyweight belt in March, winning his divisional debut by submitting Ciryl Gane in Round 1 PBA
His first defence was due to come against Miocic in the main event of UFC 295, at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on 11 November PBA
However, 36-year-old Jones will require surgery after sustaining an injury on Tuesday (24 October), meaning his clash with the consensus heavyweight ‘GOAT’ is off PBA
As a result, the co-main event of UFC 295 has been elevated to the new main event, as former light-heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka faces ex-middleweight champion Alex Pereira for the vacant 205lbs title PBA
In the new co-main event, British heavyweight Tom Aspinall will face Russia’s Sergei Pavlovich for the interim heavyweight title PBA
The winner of that fight will theoretically be in line to unify the belts against Jones once the American is healthy, and it is unclear how Miocic will factor into the situation PBA

Harvey Elliott insists he is ready to take his game to the next level as he eyes Euro 2024 PBA
The Liverpool midfielder captained England Under-21s for the first time on Monday, leading the Young Lions as they slipped to a late 3-2 defeat to Ukraine in Slovakia PBA
He returns to domestic action this weekend, looking to force his way into the Liverpool line-up for Saturday’s Merseyside derby with Everton PBA
Despite a frustrating lack of starts for the Reds this term, Euro 2024 remains a real goal for Elliott, after England’s 3-1 win over Italy on Tuesday booked their place in Germany, and he is primed to take his chance PBA
He said: “Absolutely, I’ve felt ready for a while now PBA
It’s just about making sure I keep applying myself to be the best possible player and person I can be PBA
“It’s a nice goal to reach and aim towards PBA
The tunnel vision is there, it’s taking it game-by-game, and if the opportunity comes I’ll be the happiest kid in the world PBA
“The Under-21s is my main focus, make sure I’m applying myself and being the best possible person and player for myself PBA
“If you’re not doing that there’s no change PBA
You have to do the basics right, set a good example, and if the opportunity comes it comes PBA
If not, you have to keep working and, hopefully, one day it will come PBA
”Elliott has started just once in the Premier League this term but came off at half time in the 2-2 draw at Brighton just before the international break PBA
Jurgen Klopp’s summer midfield refresh has seen Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, Naby Keita and Fabinho leave Liverpool, with Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch joining PBA
